On this their fourth album, Bread has finally learned to checker-board their serious-romantic style with a comic-romantic one. I've given a lot of thought to how David Gates came up with a title like "Baby I'm-A Want You," and all I can figure is that either he just had bad need of an extra syllable, or he was making some sort of phonetic.

Baby I'm-a-Want You Lyrics: Baby, I'm-a want you / Baby, I'm-a need you / You the only one / I care enough to hurt about / Maybe I'm-a crazy / But I just can't live without / Your loving and affection.

This fourth Bread lp was the first with new member Larry Knechtel. Larry was a massive studio musician who played bass on the Byrds first lp, played keyboards on tons of 60's/70's lps, and was loaded with cash flow way before joining on. The "Baby-I'm-a-want-you" lp is all over the place. Not as compact and cohesive as the first three lps.

Jan 25,  · Bread albums are so short they could do a 2-fer like they did with the Searchers. The album "Baby I'm-A Want You" playing time which is 34 minutes is just about right for vinyl. AudiophilePhil, Jan 24, #

Baby I'm-A Want You is Bread's best album, showcasing its soft and hard sides (yes, Bread had a hard side) at their respective peaks. "Mother Freedom," with its crunchy James Griffin guitar solo, and the superb soft rocker "Baby I'm-A Want You" made a brilliant opening which the rest of the album had a hard time conttranchargalahodasarmylawacomp.co: $

Apr 19,  · A 70's hit, one of those melancholy sets which were not uncommon in that decade. "Bread" was a highly successful band which produced hit after hit, and their albums sold millions. Actual vinyl back then! "Diary" was written and produced by David Gates (Bread's keyboardist and vocalist), who was responsible for most of Bread's hits/5(15).
