Aug 08,  · When Richard Clapton released his third album, Main Street Jive, at the time it seemed like a letdown, a pale imitation of his hit album Girls on the conttranchargalahodasarmylawacomp.co on reflection it might be more consistent than I suspected. Musically the sound is moving away from his earlier country rock or folk rock modes towards a generally more mainstream rock sound/5(1).

(Interview taken from Rolling Stone 9 Feb - sourced from The Avenue / Richard Clapton). This post is a vinyl rip taken from my near mint copy, at kps and includes full album artwork. I have also sourced a live rendition of Clapton's biggest hit 'Girl's On The Avenue' taken from the 'Concert Of The Decade' compilation album, released in.

Clapton's debut LP album, 'Prussian Blue' appeared in November—it included "Last Train to Marseilles" from a year earlier—and was produced by Richard Batchens (Blackfeather, Sherbet). Two more singles were issued, "All the Prodigal Children" in October and "I Wanna Be a Survivor" in July

Although no hit singles were on his first album, "Prussian Blue", by the time of his second album, "Girls on the Avenue," Clapton enjoyed a reasonable amount of mainstream success, with the title song from the album reaching #2 spot on the Australian top 40 charts. Clapton's first five albums were produced by Richard Batchens.

Richard Clapton Every nation with a great tradition in rock gives rise to artists whose longevity places them in a special, sparsely populated strata of the entertainment world. They are the tribal elders of popular music, you might say.
